The students in our school are under a lot academic and extracurricular stress. Our library already has a lot to offer in terms of books and digital resources, but what my students really need is a way to have some fun during the day!
I want to make the library a place where they can relax, decompress, and enrich their day through fun STEAM activities like simple building/balancing, mindful coloring, and games that build on their logic and math skills. Bringing in an assortment of flexible supplies and resources will allow me to reach a wider range of students and provide them with opportunities to meet new people, release some stress, spread joy, and take a moment to be kids again.
Tabletop games and art projects are a great way for kids to collaborate and collect themselves during free times and lunch. They're also fun for special programming that I would be able to offer as an outreach throughout the school. Additionally, having a mobile display shelf will give me flexible options for presenting new books and resources for everyone who visits the library.
