Students deserve the opportunity to sit down with a book they can connect with and that suits their reading level. The purpose of this project is to ensure that this classroom of exceptional learners have access to books in which they can relate.
Books such as "She Persisted" and "Let's Talk About Race" will allow students to be engaged in their reading and begin the difficult conversations regarding race and culture. It is my responsibility as an educator to provide opportunities and facilitate difficult conversations.
The books that were chosen for this project are culturally diverse books with beautiful pictures to engage my students.
