Teaching in an urban Title I school, my students come with a desire to learn but a noticeable deficiency in reading. I selected materials that will enhance the learning environment and help to foster authentic learning experiences for all of my young scholars. These materials will help close the achievement gap by providing remediation activities on their level. I will use these materials during small group, as well as during push-in intervention support. Meeting the students where they are will help build their ability to where they should be. My students have a strong desire to succeed and their home life should not dictate the level of success they can have.
