Our school celebrates individuality, diversity and creativity which is why in our classrooms, students focus on incorporating technology and are provided opportunities to collaborate, communicate and think critically about real world problems. And, yes, we do also teach Reading, Language Arts, Science, Math, Social Studies and the Arts. However, there are many figurative bumps in the road in our quest to provide the best education for our students. Although they do not diminish or deter our efforts, they admittedly do pose challenges. Of all the schools in our large county, our school services the most homeless shelters, and our students come from all walks of life. It is in the middle of a low-income neighborhood in South Florida. About 100% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch and about twenty percent of students live in one of the four shelters around our school. Our mobility rate is very high.
