My students come to school full of life and ready to learn! Just like adults get tired of sitting in hard chairs all day, students do too! They need more flexible/comfortable seating options to enhance student engagement and learning. Studies show that students learn better when they are physically active and comfortable. Students are able to bounce on an exercise ball, sit, stand, kneel, etc.
Some of the seating options that will be provided with this project are wobble cushions, exercise balls, and rocking chairs.
All of these options will give my students the opportunity to sit comfortably and move around while they are learning. A table that is low to the floor will be used with the wobble cushions or students can kneel at the table if they'd rather. The pub table will provide another option for students who like to stand or students who want to sit on a stool to learn.
This project would significantly help my classroom to stay engaged in our learning throughout the day. I want them to feel comfortable and at home in our classroom. I cannot wait to see all of the things we can do with flexible seating!
