I am the lucky Developmental and Community Preschool Teacher in a high poverty school in a Midwestern urban area. About 78% of our students receive free or reduced lunch and breakfast. My students come from diverse backgrounds with varying levels of special needs in general academics, speech and language, fine and gross motor development, social and emotional development , and self care skills. Many of my students also speak English as their second language. This small classroom environment allows them to get strategic interventions and fully engage in the rigorous kindergarten curriculum while still meeting their own individual needs. Each student is working at their own own level within the kindergarten curriculum. My students are imaginative, passionate, fun, high-energy, and love coming to school everyday. They love to explore, grab on, and connect to learning and become fully immersed
