Our school population is highly transient meaning many students have attended two or more schools by their first grade year. Because of this, they have large gaps in their literacy and numeracy development and struggle to achieve grade level goals. In spite of these difficulties, they are motivated to give their best effort toward learning every day. They are not yet discouraged by struggling to meet goals which seem just beyond their reach. They look forward to coming to class and love working in various personal writing, poetry, math, and work work journals. Their eagerness to learn is infectious and they race to be first in line at their classroom door each morning, greeting me with assurances that they are here to do their very best work!
