The garden will serve students in 6th through 8th grade. Students will use the transplanting trowels to plant the starts they seed in our greenhouse. They will use the cultivators to remove weeds from around the plants as they grow. The full size shovels will be used to prepare ground for our fruit trees, and the rubber mulch rings will help to keep weeds down as the baby trees are getting established. Each of these tools will be instrumental to the success of our garden.
Learning to use these tools will help students gain confidence in their ability to grow and produce their own food. Nutritious and healthy foods can be incredibly delicious, especially when they are grown with your own hands! This school garden project will foster an appreciation of fresh produce through student involvement and ownership. Produce from the garden will be used to benefit students on our campus.
