Being technologically literate is essential for students in this day and age. It is also a proven fact that students are more engaged in activities that relate to the visual arts and multi-media concepts than regular "textbook" activities. Having access to technology daily will allow for my students to work towards becoming more literate through technology as well as more engaged and motivated in classes.
The use of iPads with protective cases can also open up opportunities for my students to communicate with other students around the world through virtual book clubs as well as online forums and discussions, allowing them to grow both academically and culturally.
Currently, my students share a set of 30 chromebooks with 60 other students... you can imagine how often they actually get to work on the computers and increase their learning in these other ways. iPads will allow for the students to do quick practice in both math and reading, as well as longer assignments, including those in science and social studies.
Most of my students do not have access at home to tablets or computers, therefore, it is pertinent that they get technology education in school. It would be wonderful if I could provide them with this access during the school day and within the classroom. My students would be learning major skills that will not only benefit them in school, but also beyond their school years.
