Reading has become a major key component in third grade classrooms with the Third Grade Reading Guarantee. In order for my students to move on to the fourth grade, they must take and pass the Ohio State Test in reading.
By donating to this project, I will be able to have a classroom library that my students can access with a wide variety of different types of texts that will help them become more fluent and confident readers. I am asking for an assortment of non-fiction books, from biographies to informational texts and beyond, all on different reading levels to meet the unique needs of all my students. These books will be used in the classroom daily during guided reading sessions, book studies, literacy circles, or when a student finishes an assignment early. They can walk over to our classroom library and grab a book!
Having books in the classroom that my students can also take home to read with their families is something that will improve their lives for the better. Exposing students to a wide variety of genres will make them fall in love with reading. By having many books available in the classroom, there will be something for everyone!
