My school is a public school which participates in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program. All students participate in IB, which largely focuses on studying multiple languages, and tying learning to conceptual understandings across contents. Over 1/3 of my students are bilingual (mostly English language learners who have emigrated from another country) and they are focused on becoming global citizens. Unfortunately, many of my students are low-income and don't have access to technology during the school day or at home. Our school is buzzing with activity from the time the bell rings in the morning until 4:30 pm every day- the students are engaged in learning, but teachers still struggle to help students achieve their potential.
