Flexible seating allows students to find comfortable environment that best fits their needs. During independent work time, students will have the opportunity to work in different areas of the room with various seating options.
Currently, my students use clipboards to move around the room during independent work time. Some students choose to work under desks or lay on the floor with clipboards. Giving my students a choice of where to work has increased their attention, motivation and overall behavior in the classroom.
Different types of flexible seating will give my second graders more options during their work time. The wobble chairs and stability balls are great for allowing kids movement while learning. This is beneficial for students who work best while moving and need to let out some energy! The floor seats and bean bags will give additional options for students to move about the room. All of the flexible seating options are light weight and can easily be moved.
I want to give my students the best learning environment possible and I firmly believe incorporating flexible seating will do just that!
