I teach preschool students in a self-contained special education classroom. Our public separate school serves students with severe disabilities, age birth to 21 years old. My students inspire me each and every day! Each has faced and overcome many significant medical and physical challenges during their young lives. Currently, my classroom serves 7 students with severe global disabilities. All of my students use a wheelchair for mobility and have very limited fine motor and communication abilities. Some students also have impaired hearing and vision. My classroom team strives to support our students in gaining increased independence in their school environment. Our district recently adopted use of Creative Curriculum in our preschool EC classrooms. In order for my students to access and participate in curriculum activities, we carefully adapt materials and modify lessons to meet each student's individual needs.
