I am the librarian at Garfield Elementary School. We serve all 430 students in our library, preschool through fifth grade. The students use the library not only to check out books but to collaborate, communicate and support eachother from the moment the doors open before school until almost an hour after school when the doors close. Our school is a Title 1 school where around 60% of the kids are on free and reduced lunch. We make an effort at our school to provide a safe and fun learning environment for our families and our students, many of them eat breakfast, lunch, and after school snack at our school.
