Learners need a brain-based 21st-century classroom to prepare them for our ever-changing society. We want to transform our traditional learning environment to a more relaxed learning environment with flexible seating option; my students need more seating options. My students will continue to discover where and how they learn best. The Kore Stools, Balance Ball Chairs, and Fidget Feet Kick Bands will aid their strengthening their learning throughout our day.
Young children need to move and research shows brains function best when children are able to move their bodies.
With flexible seating, my students will be able to move in and out of whole group, small group, and individual work. All of my students (especially my ELL students) need to collaborate. I plan to create a classroom that lends itself to increased opportunities for collaboration. I have students who have special learning needs, and many students who struggle with attention deficit. Sitting at a desk all day is not optimal to learning, and when given a chance kids always choose a seat other than a hard chair. With different seating options, my students will be empowered to make choices for their own learning.
