Attending a low-income school community by itself has always been a challenge for my students. My students have always struggled overcoming these financial challenges that threaten our program's existence. Despite our minimal numbers and poor financial support, we strive to reach excellence. In the year 2015, my program was ranked as 1st in the nation down at a prestigious national competition where only competitors who had received gold rankings or higher were invited to compete.
Behind the curtain, my program surpasses society's norm on expectations through regulated high school ensembles. My students' talents take them beyond what money can offer. Since the economy today has restricted my students from many opportunities, all of them are obliged to triumph over challenges normally given to poor facilities.
