My 23 students are eager to learn and grow this year, but they are exhausted from practicing their newly learned skills the paper-pencil method already this year. They long for more than the materials I can give them, and I long for the opportunity to push them to the next levels with more active and engaging learning experiences. Although our school is very supportive of these opportunities, we are like every other school district and are limited in available funds to make this possible.
Our rural elementary school, one of twelve total in our school district, has approximately 350 students and a high percentage of those are enrolled in the free and reduced lunch program (54%). The outside community is very supportive of the school, which is evident in the way the parents involve themselves in the classroom to partner with the teachers and administrators in bettering the lives of their children through
