As a school counselor, I've seen the impact virtual learning has had on our students' social, emotional, and academic wellbeing. However, after over a year of being in an almost exclusively technology-based educational environment, our students are returning to in person learning! If there's one thing for certain, students are eager to get back on campus to reconnect. The items selected for this project are meant to facilitate their transition back to school. I plan to collaborate with other staff members to implement activities that will help students develop strategies and build a "resource bank" of social emotional learning. Students will be able to use these strategies throughout the year.
Materials from this project are intended for SEL activities that are appropriate for high school students (grades 9-12). Specifically, improving areas of positive relationship building and developing positive coping skills. The intention is to move from a technological emphasis to an approach that is hands on and personal. Supplies will be used by the school counselor in individual and/or group sessions, as needed. Mahalo in advance for your time and consideration!
