We are a K-8 low-income school. 71% of my students are on the free or reduced lunch program. 46% are learning English as their second language. My students come from families who may not have the time or resources for the world of art. My student love their time in the art room. They work hard to create and indulge the experience of art making. We work to open the doors to all kinds of art, from drawing and painting to clay and sculpture. Lately, my students have begun to express an interest in contemporary artists such as Chihuly and Clyfford Still!
