My 5th grade students will use these novels during class time to complete a novel study. The novel will be read aloud as a class and then used to assist in comprehension lessons and enrichment projects. All students need to be read to, even our older students.
By using the novel, "Wild Robot," the students will also be able to practice literacy and fluency skills and strategies that are taught inside the classroom. Our goal is to take students outside of the Reading text book and into exciting adventures, allowing them to see that learning can happen anywhere at anytime. We'll hopefully improve test scores and foster a love of reading all at the same time!
