Utilizing technology in my students' world magnifies their curiosity and wonder of how the world works. I teach 4th grade in an urban, neighborhood school where 75 percent of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch. We have a uniquely diverse population of students; Latino, African-American, Filipino, Pacific Islander, Asian, and Caucasian. There are 30 students in my class and I teach with no additional adult support. I have students who are gifted, students with special needs, and at times, students who have challenging behavior issues. Very little of the school's budget provides technology for my students to be competitive and engaged in today's world.
