Throughout the year, students in my 3rd grade class will be learning skills to make them stronger nonfiction readers. They need quality nonfiction books that are at their reading level to engage them while they practice becoming expert readers. In conjunction with our science unit about animal survival, students will choose an animal to become an expert about and complete a research project. Students will work in teams to read, take notes, and research about an animal that fascinates them. Then they will write and present their learning to the class. I am requesting a collection of nonfiction animal books to add to our classroom library.
These books will help students gain essential reading skills, improve their ability to work on a collaborative team, and learn how to present their ideas orally and in writing. Your support of this project will help my students develop a love of reading and learning.
