This project will help students explore the nuances of racism.violence vs. non-violence, capitalism, mass incarceration and educational inequalities. This project will be apart of a series then to move to student-led social justice project in our city.
Students will read, write and discuss the fore-mentioned topics by reading Assata. Assata’s journey will allow students to make real world connections to the current state of social injustices in this country. This reading experience along with shorter reading selections, and guest speakers will provide students with an in-depth critical understanding of the topics.
Students will synthesis their learning by creating or participating in a student-led social change project.
