"Yeah, but I thought flowers came from Wal-Mart. That's where my mom gets them." This statement was made by one of my students as we were learning about the life cycle of plants.
My kindergarten class consists of 20 students who are bused from nearby cities since I teach at a magnet school from the largest school district in the state. Only a few students actually live in the neighborhood of the school. It is considered a "50/50 school" meaning it has a equal mix of ethnicity and income levels.
