I am the Technology and Pre-engineering teacher at Star Middle School in Star Idaho. I teach Pre-Engineering 7 (Design and Modeling), Pre-Engineering 8 (Automation and Robotics), and Introduction to Computer Coding in addition to other courses as needed. Each semester, about 280 students move through my classroom. My student population has diverse needs including English Language Learners, Special Education students, Positive Behavior Intervention students, and students who have various academic, social, and emotional needs. My goal is to provide high-quality STEAM instruction that integrates all aspects of STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). In our classroom, students learn how to solve real-world problems using the PLTW (Project Lead the Way) Design Process and robotics. Students demonstrate their learning in a way that is authentic, engaging, and fun.
