I have a wonderful class of 20 kindergarten students, ranging from 5-6 years old. Our school is a Title One school from a small district in California. We come from a variety of cultural and racial backgrounds. Because many of the families are low income families, many of my students were unable to attend preschool. For many of my students this is their first opportunity to interact with peers their own age. Kindergarten is essential to their social and emotional development.
