P. Middle School is in the process of becoming a state certified "Green School". The 2016-2017 school year was our planning year. We identified areas that needed improvement and worked to the best of our ability to address those needs. We quickly determined that we did not have all of the materials to be successful in our endeavors. Instruction and experiences in environmental science are a crucial part of this process.
This project will allow our newly formed Environmental Club to fulfill it's true purpose in our school. The supplies requested will allow us to learn about environmental science in a hands-on way. We plan to recycle multiple materials throughout the building, harvest rainwater in our courtyards for our native species gardens and convert all of the inefficient incandescent light bulbs in our building to energy efficient LED bulbs. These changes will greatly reduce the carbon footprint of our school and instill a sense of environmental stewardship among the students and staff of P. Middle School.
