My class is not only culturally diverse; the students come from varying levels of academics, economic situations, behavioral and social skills. Our school is the sixteenth most culturally diverse school in the nation, with children from all over the world. Pre-kindergarten to sixth grade is made up of approximately three hundred and fifty students. We have a strong focus on Social Emotional Learning at our school. Our learning goals consist of helping every student to be successful in meeting their needs. My students usually enter kindergarten without a basic foundation. Before I can teach academics, I must teach students how to sit in place, hold a scissors and pencil, share, communicate and much more. To teach academics, I need to catch their attention and build a love for school. I have a variety of special needs students in my class, along with kids with behavior issues. Hands-on stations are the best tools for these kids to learn.
