I work in a Chicago Public School where we have a large diverse learner and ELL population. We are located on the south side of Chicago and are affected by the high crime rate present in Chicago. Additionally 95% of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch. Ninety eight percent of our student are considered a minority in terms of their ethnicity. Despite all of these characteristics that put them at risk, my students are energetic, intelligent scholars who will go on to achieve excellence.
