Keeping students engaged in learning can be a challenge, but with hands-on STEAM lessons linked to real-world applications, even the youngest of students can experience rich classroom learning. Our school is a Title I school, and the student population is very diverse. Many of my students hail from different parts of Latin America, Haiti, Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Mexico among others. As my site's Science and Art Enrichment teacher, I see all of our students from grades UTK-5th.
My students love engaging in hands-on science and art learning! Not only are students continually developing skills as they work as scientists, artists and engineers, these learners are also navigating how to work in groups, share materials and make compromises. Everyday they learn something new that helps them to become better students and well-rounded future citizens of our world!
