We recently discovered an amazing reading program called Rooted in Reading. The program takes an interesting, exciting, well-loved picture book and pairs it with; vocabulary, writing prompts, language art skills, comprehension passages and even art. I have purchased the program for use in my classroom, but I need to have the picture books that go along with it. I have found that a few of them are even hard to find at our local library. Owning the books would make it much easier to plan ahead and have access to them for extended periods of time.
The Rooted in Reading program makes planning a cohesive unit simple, students love deeply diving into the picture book and studying in multiple ways. I am amazed at how they are able to compare and contrast the characters, and their Reader's Journals are quite impressive!
