I teach 7th grade science to a variety of students from rural communities, including those that are gifted, learning disabled and limited English proficient. My students are from various socioeconomic backgrounds and academic abilities. By allowing my students to take part in collaborative group work while participating in interactive lessons they will be able to learn and apply new skills to their daily lives. The materials requested will be implemented in classroom instruction, STEM enrichment lessons, and STEAM summer camp. They will be used to enhance design and modeling and scientific inquiry. Students will use these materials to be active participants in science class instead of reading about science from a text book.
