"It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness." (Eleanor Roosevelt)
This quote has been a theme for my career as a teacher. All too often I get frustrated with the overwhelming needs in my classroom- lack of discipline, lack of resources, lack of parental involvement, etc. Remembering to celebrate what is good- a student just passed an important test, a student just got their license, a student just read the first book they've ever read in their lives- that is what brings joy to my job!
So, I've opened this Donor's Choose site as a means of inviting others to light a candle in the dark world of under-funded public education rather than cursing its failures.
Please join me in advancing the betterment of education among those who need it most. As George Washington Carver said, "Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom."
Many thanks,
Kristin DuMont
