The sensory items requested will provide my students with options to meet missing sensory needs. I work in a district with many students living in poverty or with family member with mental issues.
Over the past few years, I have seen a rise in IEPs and behaviors. I would like to be proactive and set up my classroom to meet sensory needs to foster success. Providing flexible seating options and a variety of sensory experiences will benefit my students.
The swing and blanket will give them the pressure they seek which will help them focus on the task they are working on. The lap pad will help them focus at times where they are sitting. The other sensory items may be used as fidget tools while working or taking a break to regroup.
