I teach ART to a very needy population of Title 1 students in Richardson Texas. Our students are provided both a hot breakfast and lunch daily. However, due to budget restraints, core and state testing regulations and enphasis, our ART program and ART budget sit on shaky ground. I work tirelessly to integrate their Art curriculum with core subjects, while providing essential 21st century skills - the ability to creatively collaborate and think critically to solve problems. Our projects are inspired by reading quality children's' literature to help us create viable visual art, provide holistic projects and reinforce integrated core subjects, so students can form aesthetic values, and become Art patrons for life.
