I teach at a Hawaiian language immersion and culture-based school. My students are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions. They thrive on hands-on, experiential-based, active, and engaging learning opportunities. As a Hawaiian language immersion school, all subject areas are taught entirely through the Hawaiian language. As a Hawaiian culture-based school, all subjects are taught through a Hawaiian cultural lens. Due to COVID-19, blended learning is a huge part of our curriculum delivery. Students are required to engage in online learning. Unfortunately, due to this pandemic, we have encountered major budget cuts, limiting access to funding. With this grant, I hope to engage with all of my students daily face-to-face, synchronously, asynchronously, and continue to challenge their minds.
