My students need 60 three-ring binders to keep their in-class daily reading logs and assignments organized. We also need two boxes of #2 pencils. The majority of my students do not have a pencil for the day. It will help the students with organizational skills. When they come to my class, they read for the first 25 minutes and need binders to keep their reading logs organized. Also, it will be their binder for the year where they can store their work.
When they enter the classroom, students can just come pick up their folder, pencil in the tool box and book within 3 minutes or less to prevent from losing access to the academic instruction/learning. Each folder will have the name of the student on it and it will be their responsibility to place the binder back to the correct location after the class session comes to an end.
Having their own binders will help them with keeping their work in one location. Being able to simply open the 3 rings, they can place their assignments and reading logs in the correct order, with very small amount of time lost. It is an easy way to have ownership of their work. When it is time to turn in work, they will just open their organized folder and here you have it, completed work on time!.
