My students are in a special education class for children with a variety of disabilities. Every student is an unique individual with their own needs, abilities, interests, etc. We work on academics (reading, writing, and math), as well as social skills, fine and gross motor, sensory, language/communication, and behavioral skills. We are in a low income school. My students individualized education plan (IEP) is vital to their progress, as it helps each student meet specialized goals for school and life success. Everyday we work on their IEP goals, as well as state standards. We also strive for inclusion for special education students, by having them join a general education class for specials, recess, and some academics, etc. I have my masters in Autism and am very passionate about teaching and advocating for my students.
