Education is ever changing, this means that as educators we need to be flexible. Flexible seating allows my students to have choice, and power over their learning. Student learning should always come first. Students learn better when they are comfortable, engaged, and are given choices. In my class, the students are allowed to sit wherever they would like during work time. However, we do not have any flexible seating options. Wiggling is important! The floor table will allow them to choose a new, and more comfortable place to work. Usually when my students work on the ground, they have to use a clipboard. This is a challenge. The table will allow them to sit on the floor, and productively work. The floor seats will give them the option to have a more comfortable place to sit, rather than the hard ground. The yoga balls will allow them to sit at their desks and wiggle while they work. With these additions, I hope to have a classroom of engaged, happy learners.
