My classroom is designed for special needs students who need extra support and attention to be successful. Lessons and materials are adapted to meet the individual needs of my students. All of my students have significant delays in communication skills that can impact learning and social interactions. They are energetic, inquisitive, and have a genuine desire to learn.
In the preschool classroom play is an essential part of learning. Students build social and communication skills while having fun. Imaginative play helps build a variety of skills that include choice making, initiative, self-direction, sharing, turn-taking, communication, and fine motor skills.
We are a urban school consisting of primarily underprivileged families. We have great parent involvement and a a supportive PTA but many parents cannot afford to provide other financial support.
