Students with learning disabilities require scaffolding and visual supports to build through concrete, representational, and abstract understanding of mathematical concepts. Students are better supported using virtual manipulatives and gaining real-world application practice that can be accessed through the world-wide web. Students work in groups as well as independently as I customize learning experiences to their needs. This is much more easily accomplished using functioning and updated technology. We need two touchscreen Thinkpads for updated functioning technology to use a learning management system to facilitate multi-faceted learning experiences.
In addition, students and teachers are now required by the local school district to utilize a learning management system (LMS) to support multi-faceted learning experiences for students as well as provide real time feedback on their child's academic performance. Through this LMS teachers can customize assignments for our students based on their individual needs. Technology facilitates differentiation of instruction by allowing individualization of learning materials. Students learn accountability through the use of this system when working independently while using investigative and research skills.
