The books included in this literacy set meet the language needs of the majority of my students. It is important that, in the age of technology, we do not forget the importance of physically holding a book, seeing illustrations, and understanding language in a variety of ways. From the biography of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, to an on-level adaptation of "Don Quijote", or a text aligned with current issues facing minority students, as in "Mamá, ¿por qué nadie es como nosotros?", there are options for every reader offered in this kit. Learning a language is not exclusive to listening and speaking, and often times, we neglect our students' reading and writing skills. Students will have the luxury of choice, the chance to change their minds, and the privilege to discover topics that may have otherwise remained unknown to them. After seeing my students' enthusiasm and creativity during our first literacy unit, there is no doubt in my mind that the 28 books in this set would further enrich the classroom environment I work hard to provide and make for an even more exciting Spanish experience.
