Each year, as the students walk into my classroom, I am challenged to create a cohesive classroom community that brings together children from all walks of life. Some have seen and experienced distant cities while unfortunately others have never been to the local zoo or even a movie theater. But over time, they all develop and share one thing in common; a desire to experience a productive and engaging learning environment. We are a magnet school based on a traditional model that incorporates parental involvement as a basis for creating lifelong learners. Students come from many different neighborhoods around our large city and each child has a spectrum of access points in technology ranging from visiting a local library to having the newest technology within their home.
