I teach at the Madison County alternative school. We serve students who have been expelled from their home school due to various reasons such as fights, drugs, gang affiliation, etc. We also have the students that are placed here because it is a smaller setting and will hopefully be a better fit for them. We expect our students to take advantage of the opportunity to gain credit toward graduation even though they have been expelled from their home school. Without us and this program these students would be left to sit at home, not earning any credit, and possibly out getting themselves in trouble. I teach in the Educational Therapy Center of the CEO. I teach the students who have been expelled or placed here for the same reasons, but my students are students with special needs and individualized education plans. I am responsible for teaching all of their classes, from English to science, to math, to electives.
