My school uses AVID to help "close the achievement gap by preparing all students to succeed in education and global society." Through AVID, students have binders with color-coded notebooks and folders to keep their materials organized by subject and to help teach them study skills. It is important that they have the colored folders to coordinate by subject with their notebooks. My school ran out orange and blue folders, so all my new students have not received the correct supplies. They also keep a pencil pouch with the necessary supplies. Many of my students are not able to provide their own classroom supplies from home. I am completely out of my personal supply of pencils, glue sticks, erasers, and paper that I bought for the year. Whenever students need a pencil, eraser, or glue stick, they now rely on asking people around them instead of being able to take one from their pencil pouch or use classroom supplies. This cuts into precious instructional time. By donating to our project, you will help improve and increase the productivity of our classroom and make students feel successful with the necessary supplies, which will help to increase student academic achievement. In addition, students should have access to images that look like them, including band-aids​ that match their skin tone.
