Help to support English Language Learners! I am looking for creative and engaging ways to teach both basic and more advanced English grammar rules (like punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure) to all of my students, but particularly focusing on students who are learning English as their second language. These skills are essential, but sometimes learning them can be a little bit dry, so I'm looking for good ways to spice them up. Students will gain additional support in their learning from Spanish/English dictionaries (so more students can use them at the same time and for collaborative learning purposes), and will also have the opportunity to engage with humorous and highly effective texts like Eats, Shoots, and Leaves that help underscore the importance of grammar in speaking and writing.
Sometimes providing extra school supplies can be a challenge for families, and your donation helps to ease these concerns for students and guardians alike. Additionally, this project includes fun snacks to be used as incentives and rewards for a job well done and items to help students feel comfortable in the classroom so they can focus on learning. Middle school students in particular respond well to taking on challenges both individually and as a group, and an extra incentive can go a long way towards motivating and maintaining excellent learning habits and collaborative skills.
