The Learn. Lead. Serve. Service Learning Program is going to renovate an area within our school to create a community clothing bank. The bank will be open to families within our district who are in need. The families will be able to shop for clothing cost-free.
Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth. -Muhammad Ali
The supplies we have requested in our project will allow us to start a clothing bank for our community. The paint and brushes will be used to paint old tables which will be used to display clothes. The clothing racks, shoe racks, and hangers will allow us to organize all clothing and shoe donations we receive to look like a retail space. The members of the community who use this Clothing Bank will not be charged for any items they choose.
Through service to our community, my Seniors learn the mutual benefit that is received by caring for and serving others. This project allows my students to fulfill a fundamental need in our community, while working together to accomplish a project which will require planning, organization, hard (physical) work, and collaboration.
