Educators have discovered the benefits of Flexible seating options within the special education setting. Flex seating would help my students learn in their own unique ways. These options will encourage learning and provide tactile/sensory input on an ongoing basis throughout the school day according to individual needs.
Flexible seating allows for students to be in charge of their own, unique learning styles in the classroom setting.
Flexible seating helps improve focus, body awareness, motor planning and overall academic performance in the learning process.
Research has shown that flexible seating has helped improve engagement, focus, and overall performance in the classroom.
When a student is comfortable in their learning environment, learning is so much more fun. When learning is fun, students grow academically! When students are able to learn, then we, as teachers, feel confident that they will be more prepared for life once they leave our classrooms and enter into the non-academic world suited just for them.
