The materials will help start back and grow our band program after hurricane Harvey destroyed some things. Having the basic needs in the classroom such as mouthpieces for instruments, books for the classroom and heads for drums will get the classes going and back playing again.
Students will have the chance to be able to learn and grow then later compete in the UIL festivals because we would have the materials needed to start out with and grow. My percussionists will be able to play and perform on good working drums at performances instead piecing the instruments together and at least sound like the instrument.
Students wouldn't have to take turns using the instruments due to a shortage of mouthpieces either.
