My students are 7th and 8th graders. My 7th graders are honors students who are looking into future careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Some of my 8th graders are at-risk and low-performing students, but they haven't had the technological opportunities that some of their peers have. Budget cuts because of the economy have put a decrease on what can be spent on technology. We are encouraging BYOD however, many students don't have the personal technology to use. This year I also teach a 21st century technology skills class. My 8th graders are learning collaboration, communication, critical & creative thinking through technology. There are many things they are wanting to learn, but we don't have the technology to meet all of their needs. New this school year, is a robotics course as well. I hope to be able to use this class as an inspiration to continue learning.
